Dr. Murugan is a NRC Associate at the National Institute of Science and Technology (NIST) U.S. Dept. of commerce, and also at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services, working under the U.S. National Academies joint NIH/NIST program. He joined the NIST/NIH after completion of post-doctoral training at the Nano Science and Technology Center (NSTC), University of Central Florida, USA.
His main research interests are the development of multiphase biomaterials, through conventional to biomimetics and tissue engineering approaches, and cell patterning. He has authored several peer-reviewed journal articles, book chapters, and patents relevant to micro-/nano-biomaterials.
